Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our arrival in one of Europe’s most exciting cities. Located within the historic Palácio Santa Clara above the streets of Alfama, the hotel offers sweeping river views and a bold reinterpretation of a former Royal Navy Hospital, reimagined by architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho.
Rooted in food, music, art, and culture, the property will feature 170 guestrooms, 24 apartments, and a vibrant mix of social spaces including a lobby lounge, pharmacy bar, all day dining restaurant, terraces, gardens, pool deck, café, spa, gym, event spaces, and a rooftop bar set to become a neighbourhood destination.
As we enter pre opening, we are seeking a Director of Housekeeping to help bring this ‘Anything but Standard’ hotel to life.
The Role
As Director of Housekeeping, you will oversee all housekeeping operations across guest rooms, apartments, and public areas, working closely with the General Manager and senior rooms team. This is a key leadership role during pre opening, with responsibility for FF&E and OS&E coordination, budgeting, cost control, and labour productivity.
You will lead the full housekeeping budget, manage in house and outsourced teams, and ensure the hotel opens on time and to brand standards. Once open, you will be the guardian of presentation and design across all guest facing areas, ensuring consistency, seasonal staging, and exceptional attention to detail.
This is a high energy, hands on leadership role in a fast paced, high volume environment, requiring strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead large teams with confidence.
About You
You will have at least three years’ experience as a Director of Housekeeping or Housekeeping Manager within a lifestyle or large four or five star hotel. Pre opening experience, strong project management skills, and experience managing outsourced housekeeping are highly desirable. You will bring excellent attention to detail, fluency in Portuguese with strong English skills, and a solid understanding of the Lisbon hotel market.
