Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our arrival in one of Europe’s most exciting cities. Set within the historic Palácio Santa Clara above the streets of Alfama, the hotel offers sweeping river views. Once home to the Portuguese Royal Navy Hospital, the building is being reimagined by architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho, blending heritage with a bold, contemporary vision. Anchored in food, music, art, and culture, The Standard, Lisbon will feature 165 guestrooms, 24 apartments, and a dynamic mix of social spaces. Highlights include a lobby lounge, pharmacy bar, all day dining restaurant, terraces, gardens, pool deck, café, spa, gym, event spaces, and a rooftop bar designed to become a neighbourhood destination. As we enter pre opening, we are seeking a Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team. Reporting to Executive Chef Fer Serrano, you will help shape a globally inspired, ingredient led culinary identity that is anything but standard. The Role As Senior Sous Chef, you will be a hands on leader in a high volume, quality driven kitchen. You will lead service, manage the pass, maintain consistency under pressure, and oversee the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef. You will also support scheduling, ordering, cost control, menu development, and food safety compliance. A key part of the role is leading and developing the brigade, creating a positive, disciplined, and collaborative kitchen culture. This role requires energy, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high profile environment. About You You will have experience as a Senior Sous Chef or strong Sous Chef in high volume, premium kitchens, ideally within a lifestyle hotel or destination restaurant. Pre opening experience, strong leadership skills, and knowledge of the Lisbon culinary scene are highly desirable.
