Sol Tropikal is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and managing kitchen staff. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation:

  • Assist in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation, ensuring consistency and high-quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor food stock and place orders as needed to maintain inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
  • Oversee portion control and minimize food waste.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Assist in staff scheduling, ensuring optimal coverage and efficiency.
  • Maintain a strong team dynamic, motivating staff to perform at their best.

Quality Control & Cost Management:

  • Ensure dishes meet hotel quality standards and guest expectations.
  • Assist in monitoring food costs, managing budgets, and minimizing waste.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effective purchasing.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce proper kitchen hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used correctly.
  • Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure staff adherence to health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a hotel or fine dining restaurant.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Creativity and passion for food and hospitality.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
