Opening in late 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our arrival in one of Europe's most exciting cities. Set within the restored Palácio Santa Clara in historic Alfama, the hotel will feature 165 guestrooms, 24 apartments, destination restaurants and bars, a rooftop terrace, spa, gym and event spaces—all centred around food, music, art and culture. As we enter our pre-opening phase, we're looking for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our kitchen leadership team, reporting to Executive Chef Fer Serrano, whose globally inspired, ingredient-led approach will define a culinary experience that's Anything but Standard. Your Role As Pastry Chef, you'll lead the pastry operation across our restaurants, bars and events, creating exceptional desserts, breads, viennoiserie, cakes and baked goods while delivering consistently high standards of quality and creativity. Working closely with the Executive Chef, you'll oversee the day-to-day pastry kitchen, developing seasonal menus, introducing innovative concepts and ensuring every product reflects The Standard's distinctive approach to hospitality. You'll also manage ordering, stock control, food costs, supplier relationships and food safety compliance while leading, coaching and developing the pastry team. As part of our pre-opening team, you'll help establish systems, procedures and operational standards that position our pastry offering among Lisbon's best. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, inspires others and brings energy, creativity and attention to detail to every service. About You You'll have: Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Senior Pastry Sous Chef or experienced Pastry Sous Chef in a high-volume, quality-driven hotel or premium restaurant. Strong expertise in classical and contemporary pastry, bakery, desserts and viennoiserie. Experience creating seasonal menus using high-quality ingredients. Excellent leadership, coaching and team development skills. Strong knowledge of ordering, stock management, food cost control and kitchen administration. A thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards. Outstanding organisation, creativity and attention to detail. The ability to perform under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency. Pre-opening experience and knowledge of Lisbon's culinary scene are advantageous. All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the European Union.
