Opening in late 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our arrival in one of Europe's most exciting cities. Set within the beautifully restored Palácio Santa Clara in historic Alfama, the hotel will feature 170 guestrooms, 24 apartments, destination restaurants and bars, rooftop terrace, spa, gym and event spaces—all designed around food, music, art and culture. As we prepare to open, we're looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team, reporting to Executive Chef Fer Serrano, whose ingredient-led, globally inspired approach will shape a culinary experience that's Anything but Standard. Your Role As Junior Sous Chef, you'll support the Executive Chef, Senior Sous Chef and Sous Chef in delivering exceptional, high-volume dining experiences. You'll lead your section during service, ensuring every dish is prepared and presented to the highest standards while supervising and developing junior chefs. You'll also support stock control, ordering, food preparation planning, food cost management, menu implementation and recipe consistency. Maintaining outstanding food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards will be central to your role, alongside helping create a positive, collaborative kitchen culture. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a passionate chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing others and is ready to take the next step in their career. About You You'll have: Experience as a Junior Sous Chef, or be a strong Chef de Partie ready to step into your first leadership role. Experience in a high-volume, quality-focused kitchen, ideally within a lifestyle hotel or premium restaurant. Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead a section confidently. Experience supervising and coaching junior chefs. Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards. A calm, organised approach under pressure with excellent teamwork and communication skills. A genuine passion for great ingredients, cooking and continuous learning. Pre-opening experience and knowledge of Lisbon's restaurant scene are advantageous. All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the European Union.
