We are seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to join a luxury resort in Zanzibar. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in similar category hotels or resorts, with previous experience in Asia, Africa, and/or the Middle East. This role requires a high level of technical skill, creativity, and leadership to deliver exceptional pastry products aligned with the resort’s culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the pastry and bakery section of the resort.
• Design, develop, and update dessert, pastry, and bakery offerings for:
• À la carte restaurants
• Buffets
• Special events and banquets
• Ensure the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency across all pastry products.
• Supervise, train, and motivate the pastry team.
• Control food cost, waste, and ordering processes.
• Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP regulations.
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menu planning and special events.
• Adapt pastry offerings to an international clientele, considering cultural preferences and dietary requirements.
Requirements
• Professional qualification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in similar category hotels or resorts, preferably in Asia, Africa, and/or the Middle East.
• Proven experience working in multicultural and international environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of classic and international pastry techniques.
• Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in remote locations.
• Professional level of English (mandatory).
Desirable
• Previous experience in luxury or all-inclusive resorts.
• Knowledge of modern pastry trends, healthy desserts, and international concepts.
• Experience in hotel openings or pre-opening phases.
