Job description
As the Head of Groups & Events, you will lead a high-performing commercial team responsible for one of the hotel's largest revenue streams. From defining strategy and maximizing conversion to ensuring flawless event delivery, you will oversee the entire Groups & Events journey while inspiring your teams to deliver exceptional results and unforgettable client experiences. Reporting directly to the Director of Commercial, you will play a key role in achieving the hotel's commercial objectives. Your Day-to-Day: - Lead and inspire the Groups Sales and Events teams to achieve departmental goals and deliver exceptional service. - Execute the hotel's Groups & Events strategy in collaboration with the Director of Commercial and Revenue Management. - Monitor group enquiries, conversion, and pricing strategies to maximize revenue opportunities. - Support complex negotiations, escalated client requests, and high-value group business. - Oversee the seamless handover of confirmed groups from Sales to Events, ensuring flawless execution. - Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and provide guidance to ensure operational excellence. - Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and lost business to identify new opportunities and improve performance. - Maintain and update department guidelines, catering pricing, and sales systems, including Delphi and Cvent. - Build strong relationships with key clients and regularly engage with in-house groups to ensure satisfaction and repeat business. - Coach, develop, and support your teams through performance management, training, and continuous professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Sales, or a related field. - Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in luxury hospitality, including significant leadership experience overseeing Groups & Events operations and commercial strategy. - Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams. - Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and business performance. - Experience working with Delphi and Cvent is highly preferred. - Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are an advantage. - Highly organized, proactive, and able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
