GENERAL MANAGER - THE COMEDY CLUBHOUSE, BARCELONA
Barcelona's first dedicated stand-up comedy club, now running two venues and 9 nights of shows a week, and building out a food menu. We need a hands-on General Manager to professionalise operations: someone who builds systems, holds a team to them and can run a busy night.
THE ROLE
You run operations across both venues: bar and door team, tech and maintenance, the kitchen and our kitchen partners. Programming, marketing and content have their own leads. You report to the owner.
This is not a desk job. At first you'll be on the floor through close (often around 4am) while we tighten our systems. As they settle in, your focus shifts to growing our food side, starting with a lunch menu launch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, onboard and manage the team across both venues
- Own the operations P&L: sales, COGS, stock, labour costs, margins
- Cash-ups, supplier orders and invoices, payroll figures for our gestor
- Hire our first head chef and run the shared kitchen
- Build new systems and enforce existing ones
- Spanish labour law compliance, safety standards, neighbour relations
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 6+ years in hospitality, bar management a strong plus
- Experience leading teams of 10+, with real hiring and firing experience
- Experience launching a restaurant or food operation
- Strong admin: numbers, margins, systems
- Commanding presence
- Strong English, workable Spanish
OFFER
€35,000 gross per year, show entry and staff discounts, openness to results-based pay.

Sobre la empresa

The Comedy Clubhouse started in 2021 as Barcelona's first dedicated comedy club. At the tail end of covid we (a bunch of comedians) started doing 1pm & 3pm shows in a tiny Irish pub. We since moved to another location and became known as the best spot in Barcelona for stand-up comedy. Over the last year we have been launching a new, bigger venue around the corner from the original. Between the two, we now run a combined 9 nights a week — 7 at the new venue, plus 2 (Friday and Saturday) at the original. We're also starting to build out a food menu and exploring a wider range of opening hours. Because of this, a great candidate will ideally also have experience starting a restaurant from scratch — including coordinating the reception of food orders and deliveries — and the capacity to manage a growing team beyond the current bar staff. We expect the combined bar and restaurant team could grow to around 10 people in total in the near future.
