Job description
26500-26500€ Gross annual
Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our long-anticipated arrival in one of Europe's most exciting cities. Set within the restored Palácio Santa Clara in the heart of Alfama, the hotel will feature 170 guestrooms, 24 apartments, vibrant restaurants and bars, a rooftop destination, spa, gym, event spaces, gardens and a pool, creating a dynamic hub for hospitality, culture and creativity.
We're looking for an Engineering Supervisor to support the Director of Engineering in leading the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department.
You'll supervise a team of Shift Engineers and Maintenance Assistants, overseeing planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and engineering projects to ensure the hotel is maintained to the highest standards. This hands-on role includes coordinating contractors, monitoring maintenance requests, supporting purchasing and inventory, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, and helping manage departmental priorities and budgets.
Working across every area of the hotel, you'll help keep guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces and technical plant operating efficiently while delivering a seamless guest experience. You'll also lead by example, coach and develop your team, support recruitment and onboarding, and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
We're looking for someone with supervisory experience in hotel engineering, facilities management or a similar maintenance environment. You'll have strong technical knowledge of building services and mechanical and electrical systems, excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills, experience managing contractors and planned maintenance programmes, and confidence using maintenance management systems. Experience with swimming pool and spa plant is an advantage. Fluency in English is essential and Portuguese is highly desirable.
In return, you'll join one of Europe's most anticipated lifestyle hotel openings and enjoy training and career development opportunities, employee and Friends & Family rates across The Standard and Hyatt Hotels worldwide, complimentary meals on duty, wellbeing initiatives, recognition programmes and the opportunity to help shape the culture of a brand-new hotel from day one.
If you're a hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems, developing people and delivering exceptional hospitality, we'd love to hear from you.
Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the European Union.
